The Intricate Art of Actually Caring premiered in February 2009 with a three week sell-out season in Eli’s bedroom as part of the NZ Fringe Festival 2009.

At the 2009 NZ Fringe Awards it won “Best Theatre” and was nominated for “Best of the Fringe” and “Best Production Design”. It had a follow up season at Downstage Theatre as part of the "Pick of the Fringe" Season.

Join Eli and Jack as Jack spins you a yarn from the comfort of Eli's bedroom. Two boys, hanging out, drinking beers, riffing on Star Trek, music and girls. The death of their friend sparks a journey to Jerusalem, and the bedroom becomes a car, the North Island, and James K. Baxter's grave.

Presented by Christchurch Arts Festival for three nights only: 23, 24 & 25 July, 8pm at Centre of Contemporary Art, 66 Gloucester St.

"A stunning success: a young and highly talented playwright’s road trip meditation on life, death, and the whole damned thing. Kent and fellow actor Jack Shadbolt are terrific. It's hip, funny and moving" (The Dominion Post)

All tickets $10 at the door - email melanie@artsfestival.co.nz to make a booking.
