Waitakere City Council and EcoMatters Environment Trust are pleased to announce that EcoDay 2009 will be held on Sunday 8 March from 10.00am to 4.00pm in Olympic Park, New Lynn. Entry to this fun, community event is free and there will be heaps of eco exhibitors, great food, great music and loads of information and inspiration.

Key components of EcoDay for 2009 include:
- A wide range of eco exhibitors showcasing sustainable products and services to help you lighten your ecological footprint. Government agencies and community organisations will also have exhibits providing information and advice on environmental topics.
- A range of environmentally friendly transport options on display, including electric bikes
- A series of free seminars running throughout the day on a range of topics, related to the environment.
- Free bus tours to Earthsong Eco-Neighbourhood in Ranui, Waitakere City and a Johann Bernhart Architecturally Designed Home at Parau, Waitakere
- The Sustainable Living Centre, located at the event site, will be open all day and is full of information on affordable solutions for sustainable living. See – click on ‘sustainable living’ for further information.
- The Trusts EcoHouse, also located at the event site, will be open to the public for tours, starting at 10am with the last one at 3.30pm. Originally built by Beacon Pathway, the Trusts EcoHouse was part of a research programme on affordable, desirable, and environmentally sustainable homes for all New Zealanders – and is now the main office for EcoMatters. - A children’s activity zone including interactive storytelling, music and dance with Fairy Clare, face-painting, The Drain Game, and Jiggles the Clown.
- Organic food and drink and market stalls.
- Live DJ Music
- Free vehicle emissions testing.
