On May 2nd 2009 At the Foundry will be the Second Annual Southern Grindfest with an amazing line up of New Zealand Grindcore and Death metal bands.

Bind Torture Kill make their stage debut pumping out some old school thrash/death metal that has some of the best known metal musicians Christchurch has seen to completing their line up.
Gorehouse who been ravaging the Christchurch Metal scene for several years will be unleashing their raw old school death metal sound with the subtle grind image they have established over the years. These guys haven't been on a stage in a year and have been working hard on new material to unleash to the masses.

The local slammers Innard Splatter will be pulverising the crowd with their tight solid and at times insanely fast brutal death metal which they have become well known for throughout the country. Solid breakdowns, perfect time changes and inhuman guttural vocals. They're a band you don't want to miss. Last year the Splatter headed north for the first time and recieved great feed back. They played in the first annual Grindfest and shocked many with their attire; dresses and a gimp suit.....this leaves us wondering what they have in store this time.

Death/Grind perverts Vixen Execution will unleash their powerful groove injected brutal sound. This band has established itself as one of, if not the, heaviest band the country has seen in years. Ruthless blasting followed by insane grooves, they will grind you into dust and leave you mesmerised. Last year saw Vixen tour the country and play with some amazing international bands (Psycroptic, The Bezerker and recently The Amenta). Old school grind meets modernised grind compressed together with the vocal abuse of screaming, gurgling and growling noises. They will make your ears bleed and leave you dazed for weeks.

Auckland's Carnal, which reformed half way through last year with the collapse of Auckland giants Relentless Attrition, have got together to create technical brilliance. Drumming for them is Ldawg (Vixen Execution drummer). It may seem odd that a southern man is playing with an Auckland band but dedication, talent and a hefty amount of coin makes this work well. They have a very unique sound. One band destined for big and greater things in the years to come. They will be delivering an onslaught of technical brutality with grind mayhem.

The line-up is complete with the return of Wellington’s brutal slamming psycho grinders Backyard Burial, who haven't played in Christchurch since Satanfest 2005. These guys are amazing; tight as and deliver a wall of noise which mixes all elements of the extreme music genre in a blender, mashes it up and then unleashes pure grinding bliss. One of the leading grindcore bands in the country, these guys shouldn't be missed by anyone. 10 years they have been together and still fighting strong, with a new full length album soon to hit the stores they are the "godfather's" of New Zealands grindcore scene.

All in all folks it will be an amazing night featuring some of the best national and local death metal bands who really work hard to achieve the things they do.
