Quirky Quartet Tours the Country.
A series of brilliant live concerts has established Jade String Quartet as a musical force to be reckoned with. Formed in 2003 by four Auckland Philharmonia (APO) players, the group’s enjoyment of a wide repertoire, from the Baroque to highly original arrangements of modern music, is easily conveyed to audiences and has won them many fans.
This October, in a tour organised by Arts on Tour NZ, the quartet will travel the country playing music by Vivaldi, Beethoven, Prokofiev, Bartok, Phillip Glass, Jonathan Besser and ‘Orange Blossom Special 5’.
Eclectic violinist Miranda Adams (of Vivo and Bravura fame), is well-known throughout NZ for her dazzling virtuosity and as Associate Concertmaster with the APO. She is joined by fellow kiwi, William Hanfling (co-violin), who is currently a Sub-Principal Player in the APO. Robert Ashworth, prizewinning violist from Canada, is in much demand as a solo, chamber, and orchestral player throughout NZ. German born cellist Claudia Price brings her International experience from London and Berlin to further enhance the group's sound.
Jade String Quartet’s latest tour begins in Omapere in the north, travels through both islands and ends in Putaruru.
