The Trust has been working pro-actively with various Community Organisations and also departments of Manukau City Council to ensure that key messages reach out to not just the new migrants but also to the residents, citizens and the wider community.

To further cultural awareness and celebrate diversity in Auckland, the AIEC Trust is organizing “Vaisakhi on the Square” on Saturday, 10th April 2010 at Manukau Square.

The family fun day will have various Indian cultural and Bollywood dances, songs, fun activities for children (face painting, sand wizard, clown & Bouncy Castles) and exciting variety of food stalls. There will also be a raffle draw with exciting prizes, including a car.

The action this year again will be the Youth Indian Dance Competition in which performers from all over Auckland will be competing to win the Cash Prizes of $500, $300 and $200.

Like last two years, Vaisakhi on the Square is expected to be one of the most talked about event for months to come.
