This Thursday, Parnell galleries will again serve up their tempting smorgasbord of New Zealand art. With complimentary wine and exquisite canapés from Parnell’s Mint Kitchen – this is the perfect entrée to a memorable evening at one of Parnell’s great restaurants.

Take your time perusing Parnell’s contemporary, traditional and cutting edge array of fine art. This sociable event centres on the cluster of galleries located in the middle of Parnell Road: Pierre Peeters Gallery, ARTIS Gallery, essenze, Mana Gallery, Jonathan Grant Galleries, Pankhurst Studio Gallery, Parnell Gallery and Sanderson Contemporary Art, with Bath Street and Warwick Henderson Galleries also taking part and all open for viewing until 7.30pm.

This month, Artis Gallery features still life from Pamela Wolfe's flower paintings. Posies of peonies, poppies, orchids and roses burst forth from a rich velvety blackness, seeming to nearly spill out of the picture frame;

Susan Wilson features at Jonathan Grant Galleries with “The Anguish of Departure,” including a variety of still lifes and landscapes which draw on Wilson's New Zealand origins and overseas travels.

At Sanderson Contemporary Art, PJ Paterson's draws from diverse sources (such as contemporary pornography, classical Greek tragedy, biblical stories, art history and eco-feminist literature) to depict societal roles and mythology attached to women through the ages.

Catch the last glimpses of the very successful, “A Tribute to Peter Sauerbier,” at Pierre Peeters Gallery with four artists paying homage to the master of assemblage and constructor extraordinaire, the late Peter Sauerbier.

Warwick Henderson Gallery continues with emerging artists: Alexander Bartleet, Haneui Kim, Rachel Daddy, Emma Topping, and Loloma Andrews; and

Bath Street Gallery features Peter Gibson Smith and Grant Beran.
