Ludacris: Kelly Rowland: T Pain: Iyaz: Third World.
We know what you’re thinking. After a winter like this, summer could really use an array of platinum-selling, Grammy-winning hip hop and R&B megastars to get together for more than seven hours of pure, unadulterated, mad live entertainment. Right?
Well, it’s a good thing then, that Boom Productions are proud to present the first annual Boom Tunz hip hop and R&B extravaganza in Hamilton and Wellington this December.
Leading the pack is one of the biggest names in urban entertainment today – Multi-award winning Ludacris will hit the stage, choosing the best hits from his impressive array of collaborations and original compositions. In just ten years, he’s released seven albums and is one of the biggest names in music today.
Next up is the multi-talented singer, rapper and producer T-Pain. Whether through his own tracks or collaborations with the likes of Akon, Chris Brown or Flo Rida T-Pain is a household name in the world of urban music, reaching number one in New Zealand numerous times and winning two Grammys throughout his career. Armed with a three successful albums and one in the pipeline, the ringleader of this circus is set to take the stage with a phenomenal live show and plenty of crowd-pleasing tracks to set the day alight.
If that isn’t enough then the stunningly beautiful, five time Grammy award winner Kelly Rowland will take the audiences’ breath away. Having proved her worth as a headline solo act following her Destiny’s Child fame in the '90s, Kelly Rowland is teaming up with her own entourage of dancers and performers to rule the stage for a explosive set. There’s no question this R&B artist is a big name in music, having sold more than seven million albums and a vast selection of chart-topping hits like Daylight and Ghetto from her 2007 album Ms Kelly. Be prepared for something special from an artist that has spent more than ten years learning her craft and is now one of the undisputed R&B queens of live performance.
Up and comer Iyaz, from the British Islands, may only be 22, but he’s definitely one to look out for. Having signed to Sean Kingston’s label and collaborated with Jason Derulo, Iyaz is heading for the top at a killer speed. Bringing material from his two charting albums Replay and My Life, this is one guy worth checking out.
It’s not just the young artists running the urban game these days either, as Jamaican reggae legends Third World will surely prove. Having already performed in New Zealand as a headline act, their eagerly awaited return will see them deliver a 90 minute set. It won’t take much to work out why these guys have been setting the blueprint for reggae for more than 30 years.
The local scene are getting in on the act as well, with an hour of some of the best New Zealand has to offer, showcasing the best of their talents alongside the international heavyweights, with award winning J. Williams & BS Dance Crew, DJ CXL, Illegal Banditz and K.one providing a medley of hits and local hip hop madness to kick the afternoon off.
