Last Chance for Residents to Have a Say on the Super City!

The Government is calling for the final round of submissions on the Auckland “Super City” Reforms.

The closing date for submissions on the “Third Bill”, the Local Government (Auckland Law Reform) Bill, is Friday 12 February and this will be the last chance for residents to have their say on the “Super City”.

The Tamaki Community Board wants to hear what the people of Tamaki think about the Government’s proposals, to inform the Community Board’s submission on the Third Bill.

The Board also wants everyone to have their say and tell Government how they feel and what they want for their area.

The Community Board will be holding a public consultation meeting in each of the three main centres of the Tamaki Ward and is looking for feedback particularly on the following questions:

1. The powers of the Local Boards are not outlined in the Bill; do you want Local Boards to have power within the community?
2. The proposed election campaign spending limit for Super Mayor is $580,000 – do you think this means that only millionaires can stand for mayor?
3. The Government want all transport, water, development, events, etc, to be controlled by external board not governed by your elected representatives who are accountable to you. What do you think of this proposal?

Tamaki has been heard loud and clear on the Super City proposals and we have had several wins but there is more to do!

Come to one or all of the Tamaki Community Board’s public meetings:
• Panmure: Wednesday 3 February, 6pm–7.30pm at the Panmure Community Hall, Pilkington Road.
• Glen Innes: Monday 8 February, 6pm–7.30pm at the Glen Innes Community Hall, Line Road.
• Otahuhu: Tuesday 9 February, 6pm–7.30pm at the Otahuhu Town Hall, High Street.

Each meeting will include a presentation, Question and Answer session and a submission writing workshop.
