Luminate is an earth friendly festival of music, dance, art, creativity and sustainability on Canaan Downs, Takaka Hill, New Zealand. 28th January – 2nd February 2010.

Join us to celebrate the ancient summer harvest festival of Lughnasadgh, on the full moon midway between the solstice and equinox.

KISS at Luminate! –Knowledge and Inspirational Sharing Sessions: an extensive programme of workshops covering a wide range of holistic, cultural and environmental topics. 5 Rhythms Dance, African drumming, Poi & Juggling, Yoga, Kirtan (mantras), Meditation, Harakeke, Permaculture, Natural building, Deep Ecology, Reflexology, Poetry, Music industry seminar and Dub techniques with Mad Professor, Vibrational and harmonic music production theory with Pan Electric, Creative sound play & songwriting with Karen Hunter, Didgeridoo with Si from Wild Marmalade, and many more."

Returning for its third year, Luminate is a family-friendly music, arts and cultural festival: a place to re-energise on the dancefloor, participate in workshops, be inspired about living sustainably, receive a massage, join in drumming around the fire, relax with a warm chai, watch an enlightening movie, be in harmony with nature, and celebrate a sense of conscious community.

The music zones at Luminate feature a world class line-up of performers from Aotearoa/New Zealand and overseas, taking you on a unique, flowing journey through a diverse range of Live music, World Grooves, Tribal rhythms, Psytrance, Progressive, Minimal Tech, Breaks, House, Dub, Dub Step, Reggae, Funk, Folk, Roots, Soul, Ambient, esoteric beats and more...Find your rhythm on the two amplified dancefloors, the chillout zone, the tribal drum circle or the acoustic jam space.

Luminate offers an extensive range of inspiring workshops on sustainable living and other holistic topics, a healing zone, the Flaming Jugglepoitoy zone with fire performers at night & circus skills workshops by day, enlightening movies & documentaries, organic refreshments, arts, crafts & market stalls, spacious camping, solar showers and amenities,....all set 2000ft up a quartz crystal and limestone mountain surrounded by native bush.

Luminate is a Clean Environment event. There will be no rubbish bins or recycling on site!
Be prepared to pack out what you bring in and leave no trace. Food stalls will serve onto ceramics or direct to your own plate and cup. There will be a composting area for biodegradeables.
The festival site layout and art installations have been designed using sacred geometry, natural materials and re-used resources.
