A night of one-man-band fury: Stomping Nick and His Blues Grenade with Boss Christ performing at the Wine Cellar, with support from Mr Slackjaw. Bring your ass for a kicking.

The Blues Grenade is a one-man-band, a sonic punk-blues maelstrom that is the phenomenon of Christchurch-based musician “Stomping” Nick Jackman playing distorted guitar, pounding drums and wailing harmonica all at the same time.

Stomping Nick's raw and primal songs explode out of the speakers of his vintage tube amplifiers, inducing his listeners to readily engage in their wildest dance moves.

At no time does he resort to the use of backing tracks, loop pedals or any of those other fancy tricks. All his sounds are created the old school way, i.e. live with nothing but his hands, feet and mouth.

Stomping Nick is an experienced, battle-hardened performer, having played hundreds of shows in diverse places including bars, festivals, house parties, country halls, flatdeck trucks, beer tents, sheds, shacks and street corners. Over the years he has worked as a drummer, a guitar picker, a bassman, a harmonica player, a banjo plucker, a washboard scrubber, a tambourine jangler and a spoon rattler. Somewhere along the line he learned how to ditch the band and do it all himself.

Boss Christ, beer-lovin' man of the soil, will be warming up the crowd with his mongrel, monsterbilly mayhem. Warning: some people have been going around saying that Bruce Springsteen is the Boss. Do not listen to them. It is Boss Christ. Beware of imitations.
