Walk2work Day March 10th 2010

What is it about?

Walk2Work Day is part of a Living Streets ( campaign that aims to encourage people to walk more in their daily lives. It is a free event held before work in a location close to the main walking routes, targeting people who have walked all or part of the way to work.

Auckland - Around Auckland, the event will take place from 7:00am until 9:00am in Pigeon Park (corner of K’Road and Symonds Streets) and Takapuna town centre, along with individual workplaces such as Botany town centre, Lynn Mall, Tasti Foods, Waitakere City Council, Waitakere Hospital and other large employers.

Walk2work encourages people to incorporate health and fitness into everyday activities – such as walking to work and utilising public transport. The event is being held around New Zealand by employers and at centralised locations such as Auckland City, Botany Town Centre, Lynn Mall and Takapuna on Auckland’s North Shore.

Councillor John Lister will talk on behalf to Auckland City at 8:15.
