Best-known for his impressive large-scale public works such as Wellington Urban Forest 2007, or the installation at The Farm, north of Auckland, this exhibit is the first New Zealand display of Leon van den Eijkel's early works.

Small works on paper, in pen and ink and gouache and produced after the artist completed his studies at the Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague, in the early 1960s, they provide an intriguing glimpse of a major artist's early work. Despite stylistic differences from his current practice, the theme The Family is, interestingly, currently being re-visited by Leon.

Ten framed works are at Tivoli. The works are for sale.
