Martin Riseley is the new Head of Strings at the NZSM. The Concertmaster of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for over 15 years, he has performed as soloist and conductor many times in North America. Originally from Christchurch, he won the TVNZ Young Musicians Competition in 1988 before heading off to Juilliard, where he completed Masters and Doctoral degrees as a student of Dorothy DeLay.

Emma Sayers teaches classical piano, accompanying and chamber music at the New Zealand School of Music. She was born in Wellington, New Zealand and studied piano with Judith Clark in New Zealand and with Rita Wagner at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Emma records for Concert FM and also presents radio programmes from time-to-time.

In this concert they will present Saint-Saens - Havanaise, Tchaikovsky - Valse Scherzo Op. 34, Wieniawski - Polonaise in D, Khatchaturian – Violin Concerto, third movement, Kreisler - Tambourin Chinois, Dinicu arr. Heifetz - Hora staccato, and Sarasate - Playera and Zapateado.
