For one week only, Waitangi Park is transformed with big top circus tents, flying trapeze rigs, carousels and candy floss. Festival of Circus 2010 showcases artists and shows from around New Zealand and the world, and includes free workshops on all circus skills for children.

Gold coin donation is all you need to see a reworking of the much loved favourite The Navigators outside Waitangi Park, inspired by our sea-faring ancestors and our identity as an island nation and full of magic, danger, comedy, acrobatics and death-defying stunts.

Adagio, The Cabaret brings a sophisticated fusion of circus, theatre and live music to the big top in a cabaret version of the popular Adagio show.

New Zealand will get its first look at the award-winning UK/Brazil production Deadly. This story of a man, a woman and seven deadly sins is a dangerous mix of circus, dance and theatre.

• Circus of Horrors: Wednesday 3 – Tuesday 9 March, 9pm
Adults: $25
The Circus of Horrors is one for the grown-ups. A nightmare turned real, this extreme circus mixed with blood, guts and sex will turn your insides out!

Workshops and matinee performances in all of the skills and thrills of the circus by the Wellington Circus Trust. Learn to juggle, swing, somersault and fly at open workshops for all ages.

• Circa Teen: Saturday 6, Sunday 7 March, 3pm
Capital E circus kids and Wellington Circus Trust create a show of their own for the festival.
