Based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, 'The Sound of Music' is one of the best-loved musicals of our time.

Maria Rainer is a young nun in an Austrian convent, about to take her final vows. Concerned that she is not yet ready, the kindly Mother Abbess sends Maria away on a voyage of discovery to see more of the outside world.

She is sent to the home of Sea Captain Georg Von Trapp, to become governess to his seven children, who lost their Mother some years before. The children long for a relationship with their Father, but he rules the house with rigour and discipline, making the children rebellious and full of mischief, so much so that no governess stays for very long!

Through her love of music and her endearing personality, Maria captures the hearts of the Von Trapp children. But times are changing and the future security of the family is threatened by the rising power of the Nazis and the fact that their Father is about to marry a wealthy Baroness.

Come and see a superb local cast tell this enchanting tale and bring the hills alive, with the sound of music!

Tickets are on sale from The Marlborough Civic Theatre, Arthur Street Blenheim from Tuesday 6th April.
