Samuel Barber – Agnus Dei
Henryk Górecki – Totus Tuus

For their first concert of the year, the Bay of Islands Singers will perform the much loved Requiem by Gabriel Fauré and an early work by Mozart, the Missa Brevis in F written when he was just 17. Two shorter pieces complete the programme, Barber’s own transcription for choir of his well known Adagio for Strings and Totus Tuus by the contemporary composer Henryk Górecki written for the visit of Pope John Paul II to Poland in 1987.

The choir is joined by a fine quartet of soloists: Tania Priebs - Soprano; Rose Chapman - Alto; Michael Burch - Tenor; Daniel Morrison - Bass; and Auckland organist Michael Bell.
