Urban Tramper plays the Late Lounge at TheNewDowse, Thursday 6 May.

This Wellington five piece ‘future folk’ band is also known for its psychedelic jams, soulful ballads and driving beats. Instruments of choice include the melodica, harmonica, glockenspiel, tambourine and trombone.

The evening warms up with exhibition tours at 5:30pm and 6:30pm, with all galleries, café, cash bar and Shopette open until 9pm. Urban Tramper will be on stage at 7pm.

"Urban Tramper albums should come with a health warning. They are addictive in a charmingly disquieting way...A contender for album of the year." Mike Alexander - Sunday Star Times

Urban Tramper has been performing and recording for 8 years and has toured New Zealand extensively, as well as the UK and Europe. The group has played alongside bands such as Calexico, Cut off your Hands, So So Modern, Eileen Rose and Blitzen Trapper. They have released three albums: ‘To the future on foot…’ (2004), ‘The Treeninja Always Gets Through…’ (2005) and ‘Tokon & The Colours’ (2007).

Urban Tramper songs are favourites on alternative radio in Australasia and Europe. Most recent singles are: ‘Wishing Bliss’, ‘Southern Hemisphere Blues’, ‘Olympic Theme ‘2012’’ and ‘My Grand Plan’. The release of their fourth album, ‘Rise & ride toward’, was celebrated with a sold out tour of New Zealand in November. Urban Tramper has recently played Australian festivals and are set to tour Japan, Europe and the US in June/July.
