5 Comedians hit the road for a 13-night stand across the North and South Island, causing riots (of the laughing persuasion) everywhere they go. It can only mean one thing – it’s the always-popular Cadbury Crunchie Comedy Convoy.

From top to bottom and all over the place, the comedy compass will be well and truly used and abused as they chart a hilarious path of mirthful carnage at locations where the festival may not usually tread.

Helming the Convoy this time around is a familiar face to New Zealanders – Steve Wrigley (NZ). Steve was a Billy T Award winner in 2008, former radio host on ZM and a regular on 7 Days. Steve leads the convoy amidst a busy 2010 NZ International Comedy Festival where he performs his latest work, @wrigglemania, as he debuts “Steve Wrigley 3.0”

Last year’s triumphant return of Chris Brain (NZ), marked the light at the end of the tunnel and closure to the enduring time preceding the 2009 festival. Having picked up the 2009 Billy T Award, Brain is frequently cited as “the comedians’ comedian” and a favourite of angry men everywhere, casting his sharp eye over everything and taking no hostages with his barrage of comedic bullets.

Josh Thomas (AUS) is one of the young guns of Australian comedy; at the age of 17, Josh become the youngest winner of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s RAW Comedy Competition in 2005 and made the finals of the Edinburgh Festival equivalent. Josh has gone on to perform at festivals around the world and even curate the Brisbane Comedy Festival, while appearing on television shows across the ditch such as Good News Week, Rove and team captain on Talkin ‘bout Your Generation.

One of the hits of last year’s season, Hannah Gadsby (AUS) returns this year, once again bringing her dry, self-deprecating humour to New Zealand audiences. Gadsby’s performance last year has been hailed by critics as “must see”, with TVNZ even going as far to state “[…] bizarre is a word that accurately sums up some of the memories that Gadbsy regales us with for an hour. Hilarious is another accurate descriptor.”

A welcome return to our shores, Eddie Ifft (USA) is one of a few American comedians to tour globally, Ifft has toured the UK and Australia extensively, but don’t let that think he’s not celebrated back at home – he’s performed on many stand-up comedy specials including NBC's Late Friday Night, Comedy Central's Premium Blend, BET's Comic View, ABC's Comics Unleashed, NBC's Last Comic Standing and his own special for Comedy Central.
