Rauangi Level 6 Arts Programme Te Wananga O Aotearoa visual arts students Jess Andrews, Jess Paraone, Stacy Mackie and Phreyer Jenkins will feature in this exhibition.

No Wai Koe in its most literal sense asks, “From whose womb are you born”? It is an enquiry into an individual’s line of descent beginning with the womb/whenua and extends to the outer environment of whanau/hapu and rohe identity.

This student body of work has evolved through a year of personal exploration in each of the artists' chosen media practice; Jenkins' organic ceramic forms reflect the maunga and whenua that surround her place of upbringing, Ngaputahi. Mackie explores the body of clay and our collective origin of Papatuanuku and other deity using a mixed media approach to her subject. The portraiture of Jess Andrews provides a visual line of descent through four generations of her whanau, while Jess Paraone explores collective social issues that affect core identity in a modern world.
