Who is Sophie Burbery? And who is her alter-ego, Little Bark?... Why does she feel the need to split herself in two?

Hope is Rubbery is a brand new double album in the spirit of Outkast’s celebrated Speakerboxx/The Love Below, where the two sides of the album differ in style, each reflecting a different vocalist’s artistic voice. Only with Hope is Rubbery there is only one vocalist – a single artist with two distinct musical personas.

Little Bark is a superhero. She gained her powers from a terrible accident with an exploding mirrorball, and learned to harness them from magical forest creatures in a radioactive wilderness. Nothing can stop her from getting what she wants. And she wants to make you dance - so don't try to stop her!

Sophie Burbery is a normal human being like you or I. She has fears and hopes, dreams and longings, a fragile creature in a hard, sometimes overwhelming universe. She's no victim; she’s just someone finding her way. But her songs are an honest expression of herself, she makes herself an open book for you, the listener.

The Little Bark sessions were recorded in collaboration with T.C (Conrad) Wedde of The Phoenix Foundation, and mixed by Lee Prebble in Wellington, and Dale Cotton recorded the Sophie Burbery sessions in Dunedin. With the agreement of both Little Bark and Sophie Burbery the recordings were combined to form the album Hope is Rubbery, and mastered by Dale Cotton.

If you like hooks, beats and synths and like dancing to Cyndi Lauper then you'll love Little Bark. If you prefer the songwriterly appeal of Kate Bush or PJ Harvey, then Sophie Burbery might be your bag. Better yet, embrace the full yin/yang experience of an artist expressing herselves, and exploring the dual musical personalities that make her a truly unique artist
