Parnell galleries will once more serve up a tempting smorgasbord of New Zealand art - the perfect entrée to a memorable evening at one of Parnell’s great restaurants.

Take your time perusing Parnell’s contemporary, traditional and cutting edge array of fine art. This sociable event centres on the cluster of galleries located in the middle of Parnell Road: ARTIS Gallery, Jonathan Grant Galleries, Pankhurst Studio Gallery, Parnell Gallery, Pierre Peeters Gallery, Sanderson Contemporary Art and Sense Art Interiors.

On the menu this month:

Peter Siddell features this month at ARTIS Gallery as part of “Close to Home,” exploring houses as a central subject matter. The images Siddell constructs in his paintings have an element of the surreal about them with the artist as the omnipotent being creating the idealised landscape.

Ray Haydon continues to develop in fresh and ingenious ways with “Superstructure” maintaining an immaculate sense of proportion together with an ongoing investigation of space, light and form. This new work emphasises simple horizontals and verticals organised asymmetrically within an overall theme of harmony and balance. Don’t miss this innovative new work at Sanderson Contemporary Art.

Favourite, Peter O'Hagan features once again at Jonathan Grant Galleries with “Night and Day, Day and Night.” An artist of spontaneity, passion and vibrancy, O'Hagan draws on his travels as inspiration for his works combined with his taste for the '"finer things" in life successfully establishing himself as an artist of international repute.

Prepare to be enticed, shocked, titillated and perhaps even disturbed... Just a little, by outstanding young emerging artist, Anya Whitlock at Pierre Peeters Gallery. The exhibition features a series of grand scaled acrylic works on oval Meranti, Birch, Gaboon and European Beech panels with powerfully charged female characters who take their lead from ancient cautionary tales reworked with a contemporary twist.
