Come experience first hand the world’s fastest growing motorsport. This is a great day out for the whole family, so load the kids into the car and come and meet some of NZ's best drifters.

Pukekohe was a huge success so I would recommend getting in now before spots are gone!

What is drifting?
Drifting is a high-skill, high-powered motorsport that calls for drivers to control a car while it slides sideways at high speed through a marked course. It is similar to rally racing, but is done on a closed course and judged on execution and style rather than who finishes the course fastest.

Drifting takes all the thrilling moments of traditional motorsports and packs it together into non-stop competition.

Drifting pros finesse their cars into spectacular power slides around a series of corners of a set course as powerful engines roar and the tires bellow smoke. The driver controls engine power, shifts gears and feathers the brake pedal, while at the same time spinning the steering wheel in a precise fashion from left to right linking corners with pinpoint accuracy. The driver is controlling and manoeuvring the car beyond the limits of the tires' traction.

What is Driftopia?
Driftopia is a clubsport event designed for drivers of all drift levels to get on track and have a full day of non-stop drifting, in a safe and controlled environment off the streets of New Zealand. Driftopia drift expression sessions are a regular drift event held at circuits throughout the North Island of New Zealand.

Gates open 8am. No dogs and no alcohol to be brought into the grounds. No Eftpos available sorry.

Confirmations are sent via email, so if you have not given an email address you will not receive confirmation, or driver information.

Important info: All entrants must comply with our rules & regulations, which can be found on our website. Please also know the flags and their meanings.

Driftopia is owned and operated by Surge Promotions Ltd. The MotorSport New Zealand (MSNZ) affiliated car club, the New Zealand Drifting Association Incorporated (NZDA), permits the event.

Driftopia caters for all drift levels with 4 types of drift classes, these classes are known as sessions.
They are:
Drift 1 for pro
Drift 2 for junior competitors
Drift 3 for intermediate drivers
Drift 4 for novice drivers
This may change without notice.

This allows for a low-pressure environment as each driver is allocated a session according to driver ability. This ability is judged by how well a driver can control their vehicle and maintain a drift. As a driver increases their drifting ability, so does their chance at jumping up a drift class.

Competitors are also given the opportunity to be tutored by top competition drivers, tutors are allowed in vehicles and are there to give advice on driver technique along with vehicle setup; this is included in the entry fee.

All entrants must be a member of a car club, You can join the New Zealand Drifting Association (NZDA) for $40 annually. This membership allows you to enter all MSNZ sanctioned events. Club events, club day out, cruises etc.

Have you registered on our forum yet? It’s the best way to keep up to date with everything drifting!
