John Woolcott, the Christchurch based co-promoter of the upcoming Gerry & The Pacemakers and Herman’s Hermits double bill on April 1, has announced the decision has been made to change the venue for the sold out show from the James Hay Theatre to The Aurora Centre For Performing Arts.

The reason for the change is the on-going uncertainty related to the safety of The James Hay Theatre which is still within the CBD's Red Earthquake Zone.

The Aurora Centre is a beautiful concert hall situated on Cnr Greer’s Rd and Memorial Ave, Burnside. The venue and its immediate environs were completely undamaged in the recent earthquakes and aftershocks and therefore represent a safe alternative option for the show to proceed, says Woolcott.

The concert starts at the new time of 8pm. Due to the capacity of the new venue being slightly smaller than The James Hay there will be a 4pm show on this day also. Tickets to this show are still available and can be purchased from Ticketek.

Ticketek will contact holders of previously purchased tickets to reallocate seating in the new venue.

Both Gerry Marsden from Gerry & The Pacemakers and Herman’s Hermits have been watching events unfold in Christchurch from the UK and are united in their belief that the show must go ahead as planned. They cant wait to see you all there on Friday April 1.

Two iconic 1960s British pop groups are on their way to NZ in March – April 2011 for a tour that will be a sure fire trip down memory lane with one Top 10 hit after another in a two hour extravaganza.

Liverpool based Gerry and The Pacemakers played to sold out New Zealand audiences on their last tour to New Zealand in 2009 and are returning in 2011 with special guests Herman’s Hermits from Manchester UK for a nostalgic evening of over 20 Top 10 hits.

Gerry and The Pacemakers will be performing hit after hit, many written by Liverpool’s Gerry Marsden including You’ll Never Walk Alone, I like It, Ferry Cross The Mersey, Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying, Girl On A Swing, How Do You Do it, I’ll Be There and It's Gonna Be Alright.

Hermans Hermits will have everyone singing along with their many hits including Mrs Brown You’ve Go A Lovely Daughter, I’m Into Something Good, Henry The VIII, There’s a Kind of Hush and No Milk Today.
