Want to brighten up your living room and the lives of some deserving Christchurch children?
Come along to the Arts & Hearts exhibition!
February's earthquake affected all of us - but especially the children of Christchurch. Some of whom are still struggling to deal with the aftermath of an event they're not old enough to understand.
Talented artists from New Zealand and the world have poured their art out for Arts & Hearts, a fundraising exhibition with all proceeds going to Variety - The Children's Charity.
Curator Mahnoosh Dordahan was inspired to raise funds for Christchurch after seeing a town in her home country of Iran suffer from a devastating earthquake. "Back then I was a child," she said. "All I could do was send some of my clothes for children who needed them. But I was so sad in my heart and remember wanting to do more, so I promised myself that when I was older if anything awful like that happened I would do something to help."
Mahnoosh chose an art exhibition to express her feelings & raise money for Christchurch: "Some years ago I used to paint and found this a valuable way to express my feelings. I wanted to show children and families that there are people outside Christchurch who think about them and want to put effort and time into making heartfelt artworks to show their love".
Art is a great way of expressing love in a way that people of all ages can understand, so please come along to the Aotea Gallery to show your support.
