An entertaining mix of folk songs, jazz, swing, movie themes and more will be presented by the Kowhai Singers at the Belfry, Ascension Wine Estate, Matakana.

With numbers ranging from the sublime traditional folk song “Shenandoah” through to the ridiculous Hogsnort Rupert’s “Auntie Alice Brought Us This”. The programme will also include the popular Simon and Garfunkel’s 1970s number “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, the exotic sound of jazz standard “Caravan”, the big band swing song “Chattanooga Choo Choo”, the delightful “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from the Wizard of Oz and much more.

The programme will feature Jessica Hindin (of Puhoi) and Friends, a group of full time musicians who play regularly in and around Auckland. They have toured extensively throughout New Zealand and around the world in different combinations. Jess and Friends’ musical backgrounds collectively range from jazz/bluegrass and classical, to alt country and beyond; between them they create a mixture of styles, moods, and instrumentation including fiddle, double bass, guitars and haunting vocal harmonies.

The concert is sure to brighten a winter’s afternoon - and send you home in a cheerful, relaxed mood.

So purchase your tickets from Warkworth i-Site (or at the door on Sunday 21 August) and join us at 4pm on 21 August.
