Shakespeare's classic tragedy, Hamlet, in an abridged form of just two hours, including interval, will be staged in the beautiful setting of Invercargill's Otepuni Gardens. Featuring a cast of fourteen, directed by Angela Newell, the play's design theme is "steampunk", reflecting the gritty, dystopian world of a kingdom that's far from pleasant for its young prince. Hamlet, mourning the death of his father is suddenly thrust into a mission of revenge when he discovers it was really murder, a murder committed by his uncle.

Bleacher seating is available, but BYO cushion, rug or deck chair. Refreshments available on site. Tickets are available from the Invercargill i-SITE (Southland Museum building) from end of January 2011.

Parental guidance recommended with children as the play is a tragedy and may upset very young children!

Contact Angela at Venture Southland for further details. Venture Southland is the producer of this event, presented by Shakespeare in the Park Charitable Trust.
