The Waikato Sculpture Trust - ‘Making Sculpture Matter’.

Open 10.00am till dusk everyday.

An exhibition of contemporary outdoor sculpture exhibited in the stunning landscape of Waitakaruru Arboretum in the heart of the Waikato, just a few kilometers east of Hamilton.

Curated by Tim Walker:

Featuring many new works by leading NZ artists including the stunning ‘Vertol’ by David McCracken seen for the first time at the Waikato’ s very own sculpture park. This is an exhibition offering a wide range of work from the monumental, literally in the case of Bernie Harfleet’s ‘Inglorious’ to the very intimate work of Harkness Henry award winner Gareth Williams.

In the words of curator Tim Walker, ‘each new exhibition of sculpture opens up exciting opportunities for the specific form and arrangement of the Arboretum to provide extra-ordinary encounters with sculpture. And for seasoned visitors, each new exhibition provides an opportunity to ‘play’ off the setting, to create conversations between new works and their site – and with works that have previously inhabited the same or nearby sites’.
