Online Meets the Try-line: Leveraging this year’s most prestigious sporting event online.

Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011) starts in just three months. Attend the Marketing Association's July Brainy Breakfast to hear how one of our country’s biggest brands is leveraging this year’s most prestigious sporting event online, and understand how your business can capitalise on the event and the legal issues that may impact your digital marketing activity.

Albert Naffah, Country Manager, New Zealand, MasterCard

As one of the Official Worldwide Partners (and the Official Payment System), MasterCard has a lot at stake with RWC 2011 and know the importance of getting its marketing campaign around the event just right, particularly in today’s digital world.

Albert will talk about how MasterCard came to be a part of RWC 2011; discuss their plans to engage New Zealanders with such a topical event; explain their methods to ensure off and online campaign integration; and what success means for them from their digital marketing activity - is it enough to just be “friends” with MasterCard?

Rob Rendle, Senior Solicitor, Ministry of Economic Development (MED)

RWC 2011 will be the largest event ever held in New Zealand. Such events require significant financial support from official sponsors, in return for exclusive rights of association. Those rights need to be protected and that’s where the Major Events Management Act (MEMA) comes in.

Rob is a Senior Solicitor with MED, and knows the MEMA back to front. Rob will explain how to get to grips with the Act; what areas of it you need to consider when contemplating your digital marketing activity; and talk about some specific examples of RWC 2011 digital marketing activities that have been in breach of the Act.

This is a Brainy Breakfast not to be missed, providing a unique opportunity for online marketers to get the inside word before the games start.
