Joan Rosier-Jones is a well-known New Zealand author who teaches family history and creative writing courses throughout New Zealand and Australia. Her first novel, Cast Two Shadows was published in 1985 to acclaim. Her latest book, The Murder of Chow Yat, is the true story of the murder of a Chinese man in Wanganui in 1922. Joan will show you how to gather facts into clusters, how to assemble background research and how to read what old family photographs tell you about the people in them.

Bring along a family photo to work with. Joan’s book, Writing Your Family History, will be available for purchase on the day.
