Canterbury musicians & international blues sensation unite for earthquake relief. All proceeds to the New Zealand Red Cross. Taranaki’s goal is 15,000 people to the Bowl!

An exclusive New Zealand performance by a British blues guitarist plus an international Kiwi singer will headline the Taranaki4Canterbury fundraising concert.

Oli Brown and his band, a major hit at the G-TARanaki International Guitar Festival 2010, will be flying to New Zealand especially to play this one-off concert. Joining them on their set will be Wellington’s own blues maestro Thomas Oliver.

Also on stage will be hit singer and Cantabrian Anika Moa, who fronts a line up of Canterbury acts with Christchurch’s Dukes and Lyttelton roots band The Eastern. A last minute, but very welcome, addition to the line up is Opshop, also from Christchurch.

“Our main focus was to have a strong Canterbury presence in the line-up at Taranaki4Canterbury, so it’s fantastic to have Anika Moa, The Dukes and The Eastern make such a personal appearance at the Bowl,” says organiser Anand Rose.

“Oli Brown was one of the most talked-about acts at last year’s G-TARanaki, where he played with the Thomas Oliver Band, while The Eastern opened for Fleetwood Mac at the Bowl in 2009.

“This concert is Taranaki’s major earthquake relief event and we’re aiming to get 15,000 people there.”

Taranaki4Canterbury is our region’s big chance to unite with the people of Canterbury, show our support and raise a substantial amount of money, while enjoying some of the best musicians currently in New Zealand and the UK. At $35 per ticket ($15 for under-16s), the show delivers incredible value for money.

The event is supported by the Mayor of Christchurch: “Go the 'Naki! Thanks for what you’re doing for Christchurch. You are great people. Proud to be a Kiwi.” - Bob Parker
