What if you were trapped inside your own head…with John Farnham? Faux Real – Back by popular demand, featuring in this year’s New Zealand International Comedy Festival.

Following a hit season at Auckland’s Basement Theatre in 2010, Faux Real is back, with more music, more Farnsy and more Australian pop rock gods than you can shake a stick at, starring Metro’s pick for best newcomer Gareth Williams.

“Williams is superb – a truly charismatic performer” – NZ Herald

For a rollicking hour, Williams will embody John Farnham’s most obsessed fan, in an explosive multimedia extravaganza featuring those famous Farnham hits from the '80s, Pressure Down and You’re the Voice.

“Outrageous... laugh out loud comedy” – Theatreview

Faux Real is about an ordinary Kiwi bloke with a fiery passion for an Australian pop rock god – John Farnham. In the privacy of his own bedroom, this lucid dreamer willingly descends into the world of his imagination to live out his deepest fantasies. The result is a one man song, dance and audio-visual spectacular.

Faux Real was co-written by Auckland favourite Dan Musgrove whose work includes Toys, Christ Almighty! and The Giant Face, which featured in the 2010 New Zealand International Comedy Festival.

Prepare yourself for a council of Australia's leading pop-rock artists… pet lamps… and of course… a John Farnham experience that’s not for the faint hearted.
