Come along to McLeans Island, one of Christchurch's most accessible orienteering locations. The main carpark is the registration and finish area, then the start is a 1km walk away.

Two mountain bike orienteering and six foot courses for all levels of experience or fitness.

It's a great chance to give 'cunning running' a go, and enjoy McLeans Island in a new way, whether you are a family looking for a gentle activity, a runner, walker or biker, or out with the dog.

Course planner Alister says everyone will be able to test themselves on the 100m sprint finish, and the more challenging courses have a bonus 'event with the event' so we will find out what that means on the day!

Participants in next month's Heights of Winter Rogaine are very welcome to use this event to brush up your skills.

Papo, your local orienteering club will get you started with a map, and compasses are not required on introductory courses.

The next club event is on June 12 at Waikari.
