Walk: A 7km or 16km walk from River Road, Havelock North (8am) or Haumoana (9:30am) respectively to Clifton Bay Cafe (the Watties Family Walk).

Run: A 7km or 16km run from River Road, Havelock North (9am) or Haumoana (10am) to Clifton Bay Cafe (sponsored by John Baker Lawyer, Havelock North).

Both events will use the Rotary Pathway/New Zealand Cycleway – off road. There will be spot prizes only – no winners' prizes. The event will be electronically timed and participants will have their times recorded on the event website.

The event is directed at encouraging:
- Family participation.
- Corporate and school participation.
- Awareness of the Hawke's Bay Rotary Pathways/New Zealand Cycleways.

Funds raised by the event will be applied to charities supported by the Rotary Club of Havelock North. 2011 major charity is the Red Cross 2011 Canterbury Earthquake Appeal.

Who is expected to compete?
- Families (including the family dog);
- Schools;
- Corporates;
- Retired persons or couples;
- Walking groups.

The event is non-competitive. Team participation and fancy dress are encouraged. Spot prizes will be selected on the day and presented at a prizegiving to be held at Clifton Bay Cafe. Bus transport is to be provided to return competitors to starting points.

Hawkes Bay Today is providing major promotion. Radioworks will provide extensive pre-event coverage and participate on the day.
