Carolyn Mills (harp) and Bridget Douglas (flute) have collaborated for several years as the duo Flight. Their performances, live and on radio, have been praised by critics and audiences throughout the country.

Appearances have included the Adam Chamber Music Festival, Chamber Music New Zealand's Celebrity Series Tour, Arts on Tour NZ, and numerous engagements as concerto soloists with the NZSO and other New Zealand orchestras. Their debut CD, Flight, Music for Flute and Harp, is about to be released. Included are several works which were written especially for Flight.

Bridget Douglas is Associate Principal Flute in the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and flute tutor at Victoria University of Wellington. After completing a BSc at Otago University she began flute studies at Victoria University (BMus, 1993). In 1994, with the assistance of a Creative New Zealand grant, Alex Lindsay Memorial Award, PEO International Peace Scholarship, and Fulbright Scholarship, she went to the State University of New York (Stony Brook) to study with the late Samuel Baron (MMus, 1996). She was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago for their 1996/1997 season.

While in America she won the New York Flute Club Young Artists Competition and the Artists International Award, the later resulting in a Carnegie Hall debut recital. Last year she won fifth prize in the International Flute Competition at Markneukirchen (Germany). Bridget is a National Recording Artist for Concert FM.

Carolyn Mills has been Principal Harpist of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra since 1989. Ms Mills has also played with the Dallas and Houston Symphonies, and was Principal Harpist of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Mineria in Mexico City. She has been a soloist with many NZ and US orchestras, and has given concerts in Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia. Winner of several top awards, Carolyn has performed in London as part of the City of London Festival, at the Australian Harp Festival in Adelaide, and at the 10th World Harp Congress in Amsterdam.

She recently completed a recital tour of several cities in the United States, performing a number of New Zealand works written especially for her. Carolyn has commissioned and performed new music by numerous composers from New Zealand and the USA. She holds a Master of Music degree from Boston University.
