The Wellington Youth Choir begin their 2011 Concert Series by bringing their colourful repertoire to the Manawatu, Taranaki, Whanganui and Wellington regions. The choir will be singing ‘Music of the World’ taking us on a choral voyage from Europe, to Africa, India, the Americas and our very own New Zealand. This includes Zigeunerleben by Schumman, Michael McGlynn’s ethereal Lux Aeterna/Rite of Passage, Mike Brewer’s rousing rendition of a Zulu Wedding Song with Hamba Lulu and traditional songs from South America to get your pulses rushing.

The choir is annually auditioned and consists of 56 singers aged between 18 and 28 who live or study in Wellington. This is the choir’s first year under the baton of one of New Zealand’s dynamic and up-and-coming musical directors Katie Macfarlane.
