The New Zealand Cuban Festival is run over 4 days of dance workshops and 3 loco, crazy nights of showcases, cocktail and dance parties and the 'Casino Royale' Cuban Salsa Ball.

Thursday 1st December... Afro-Cuban dance, immersion workshops:
Venue: Salsa On the Awa Dance Studio, 1a Rutland Street, Whanganui.

Be a part of the Afro-Cuban dance and music journey as Christina Monneron & Adrian Medina lead you through the various dance elements integral in Cuban Dance. Then in the evening we relax, dance and enjoy each others' company, as we join Salsa on the Awa's Club Night - DJ Mama spins her favourite salsa, bachata, zouk, cha and merengue tunes...

10am - 04.00pm: Afro-Cuban dance immersion workshops;
8pm - 10.30pm: Salsa on the Awa Club Night;
8pm - 10.30pm: Pre-festival registrations open.

Friday 2nd December...immersion workshops continue:
10am-4pm: Day 2 of Afro-Cuban dance immersion workshops continue at Salsa on the Awa Dance Studio, followed by NZ Cuban Festival dance workshops begin & pre-festival party.
Venue: Infusion Catering, Wanganui Racecourse, Purnell Street, Whanganui.

4pm-7pm: Festival registration opens:
5:30pm-6pm: Whanganui's powhiri (formal welcome) to all participants of the 2011 New Zealand Cuban Festival:
7pm-10:30pm: Cuban dance workshops:
10:30pm-1am: Party time.

Registration is followed by your first set of dance workshops, leading us straight into the Festivals' Friday Night Party with New Zealand's leading Cuban DJ blasting Cuban rhythms and sounds...

Saturday 3rd December... Dance workshops, cocktail party, dinner & gala ball:
Venue: Infusion Catering, Wanganui Racecourse, Purnell Street, Whanganui.

Day 3 starts bright and early with Cuban dance workshops to suit all ability levels, with special guest percussionists supporting dance workshops.

9:30am-4:45pm: Cuban dance workshops:
12pm-1pm: Public performances and demonstrations at Majestic Square.

6:30pm-7:30pm: Cocktail part;y
7:30pm-9pm: Festival dinner;
9pm-1am: 'Casino Royale' Cuban salsa ball;
10:30pm-11:30pm: 'Casino Royale' spectacular - roulette finals & showcase performances.

The theme of 'Casino Royale' takes us into the Festival's 'renowned' cocktail party where you'll be able to sample the bartender's Cuban concoctions and try your hand at the roulette or black jack tables.

This is followed by the Festival Dinner, again leading straight into the 'Casino Royale' Cuban Salsa Ball, where our live band and DJs will keep the beat for your feet.

Sunday 4th December... Cuban dance workshops & farewells:
Day 4 starts bright and early with workshops to suit all and again with guest percussionists supporting dance workshops.

We formalise closure of the festival with poroporoake (formal farewell) to all participants of the New Zealand Cuban festival 2011.

9:30am-1pm: Dance workshops;
1pm-1:30pm: Poroporoake (formal farewell);
6pm-9:30pm: Salsa on the Awa's - Sunday Night Salsa at Stellar Bar.
