Pole fitness is a beautiful fusion of expressive dance and gymnast physical strength. It is a growing fitness regime across the world.

NZPC 2011 heats will begin at 10:30am and finals at 7:30pm on Saturday 19 November. The competition caters to all skill and ability levels and to both male and female students, with competitors travelling from across the country to compete in this world class championship, with the winners being given the opportunity to take their skills and represent New Zealand at the World Championship.

The 2011 competition sees four divisions:

Preliminary – aimed at those students at a beginner to intermediate level. Generally these students will not have competed before at a professional level. Only open to female competitors aged 18 years and over.

Elite – aimed at high-level students who are comfortable performing advanced moves and tricks. Competitors may be instructors or professionals who would have competed before. Only open to female competitors aged 18 years and over.

Expression – a more lyrical and dance focused division. Here students have the opportunity to showcase their individual style and technique. Open to both male and female competitors aged 18 years and over.

Pairs – division for competitors wanting to perform with a partner. Pairs is based on synchronisation and tricks that can be performed with two people. Open to both male and female competitors aged 18 years and over.

These categories are designed to challenge the creativity, elegance and strength of the competitors and is the epitome of a 'you need to see it to believe it' performance.
