Pakuranga Choral Society presents its annual Xmas concert. The society will ring in an emphatically NZ Xmas.

NZ composers feature largely in settings of the music while words are about summer and sunshine rather than cold wind and snow. The festal atmosphere wil be further enhanced by the handbells of the Rainbow Ringers, directed by Alison Millar.

David Gordon is conducting the programme, which contains three of his original settings of well-known carols.

There is a short cantata - "Who is This Holy Child" - by well-known NZ composer David Hamilton.

Guest artists are sopranos Rachel Alexander and Shona McIntyre-Bull and violinist Rosemary Eyres.

Young England organ scholar Edward Picton-Turbevill will play the organ.

Val Sowerby, as always, will provide piano accompaniment.

Audience are invited to join in the traditional Xmas hymns. Mulled wine and mince pies will be served at the interval.
