Join us at Waitangi treaty grounds for a remarkable 3 day celebration of culture, sport, history, wine and food all the very best of Northland and New Zealand has to offer. We have brought together some exceptional features for your enjoyment. A great day for family and friends, bring a picnic and relax in the grounds and join the fun.

The Waitangi Welcomes the World Festival - presents:

A special rugby exhibition highlighting Waitangi and Northland's history within our national game.
From Tues 18th - Thur 20th - 9am to 3pm gateway visitor centre.

On the grounds - opposite the entrance to visitor centre

Ki o rahi - juniors tournament - Tues - 18th - 9am - 2pm - local children under 10 competing in a traditional Maori sport, that is considered to have been the developing grounds for skills before rugby's introduction to New Zealand.

Ki o Rahi - free - open to all - skills - training work shop - Weds - 9am to 1pm. Focused on juniors, teaching the game and skills to those who want to learn. Free to participate in, kids remember to bring water and lunch. Great family day to bring a picnic and enjoy the festival.

At the Whare Waka - come and see - Tues/Wed/Thurs

We have wine/cheese and food sampling tent from 10am - 3pm - Tues/Wed/Thurs
Come and sample-award winning wines and cheeses presented by Kaiwaka Cheese Shop and Hancocks.
Showcasing a unique variety of special foods/wines with expert knowledge. A treasure brought together in one spot. A must for food-lovers. All products available for purchase.

Rugby celebrity BBQ and raffle- ex All blacks - Bull Allen/Christen Cullen/Ian Kirk Patrick - are here to sign autographs and cook you the best sausages in the Northland. When you buy a sausage be in the rugby greats prize raffle. Tues 18th - 12 - 2pm

Cultural performances on our main stage - 30 min to 60min - From 1pm onwards - Maori songs and dance performed live daily.

Traditional Maori craft/art - displays and demonstrations from some of New Zealand's leading practitioners.
Featuring - korowai - weaving (cloaks) tohunga whakairo - wood carvers - pounamu - greenstone carvers. Some items also for purchase.

Waitangi's First Estate - wine and cheese evenings -Tues 18th/Wed 19th - 5.15pm - 7.15pm - A special early evening presentation of some of New Zealand's finest wines and cheeses with in-depth knowledge and commentary by our experts. A great opportunity to speak with the experts over a glass or two in relaxed company. Lots of laughs and good humour to be had. The best of 'Kiwi' degustation menu @ Waikokopu Cafe - two nights to enjoy this food moment - Thurs 20th/Fri 21st - 7pm onwards. Experience award-winning food combinations with this creative kiwiana menu. Choose from selected wine matches to compliment the flavours. Waiokokopu Cafe known for great food and service. A gathering to celebrate Lord Bledisloe's vision of sport and Waitangi relationship to rugby.
We have inclusive 3 course set menu and selected beverages available to guests along with a memorabilia auction and special guests Michael Jones, Christian Cullen, Frank Bunce, Ian Kirk Patrick and MC for the night Bull Allen.
