While you’re in Wellington, relive the popular songs of the 1930s and 1940s with the Orpheus Choir during An Evening with Cole Porter.

An Evening with Cole Porter dips into the great American songbook in a concert featuring favourite Cole Porter songs performed by the 100-voice Orpheus Choir, with special guests: New Zealand singer/actor Sarah Lineham, tenor Chris Crowe and a jazz combo from the Vector Wellington Orchestra. Considered top players in the region’s jazz world, they will bring a stylish big-band feeling to the songs arranged for the evening by master jazz arranger Wayne Senior.

Sarah Lineham is one of New Zealand’s much-loved musical theatre stars — she has appeared in highly-rated stage shows such as Phantom of the Opera, The Sound of Music and West Side Story, and is regularly involved in TV shows, music and theatre productions.

Chris Crowe’s career in musical theatre has covered many stage shows in New Zealand and Australia, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables and Miss Saigon, in which he played the role of John in Wellington last year to much acclaim.

Described as "subtle and expressive", "superb" and "splendid", Wellington’s Orpheus Choir has a repertoire covering the major classic choral works through to contemporary music, and musical styles from Baroque to Broadway.
