The change for world peace first starts with oneself because peace is contagious! More than 150 countries are participating! Come and be a part of the change.

On Saturday 1st of October, for the first time in the history, a World Peace meditation is happening simultaneously in the major cities of the world. Countries will witness this massive meditation organised by the International Art of Living Foundation. On this day, thousands of people will gather at the same time in the whole world with the aim of achieving a better state of wellbeing and peace in the world.

The gathering which is for free and open to everybody, consists of a practical breathing class and a guided meditation. No previous meditation experience is required.

The Art of Living Foundation has already organised massive meditations to contribute for peace in the world. In 2006 around 2 million people gathered from more than 144 countries in Bangalore, India. In 2009 and 2010 a meditation was organised for the first time in America, with more than 20,000 people from more than 100 cities and 30 countries participating simultaneously .

Earlier this year the Art of Living Foundation organised the biggest meditation in the western world. More than 40,000 people from 152 countries gathered in the Olympic Stadium of Berlin in July to celebrate the World Culture Festival in a unique celebration of harmony in diversity.

On 1st of October, you are all invited for the first time to celebrate these massive Peace Celebrations in each city. In New Zealand some of the cities that will participate are Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and New Plymouth. In Europe more than 20 countries will participate including Germany, Bulgaria, Spain, Finland, France, Holland, Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Italy, Macedonia, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey. At the same time, in another 100 cities in America and 10 cities in Oceania, thousands of people will gather for the same purpose.

The effects of meditation:
Meditation gives a positive effect on health, reduces the pathologies linked to stress, and manages to calm the mind, giving a deep rest and energising the body. Twenty minutes of meditation is equivalent of three hours of sleep. At the same time this spiritual practice expands the benefits to the surroundings, thanks to the vibrations created. Therefore, a person who meditates regularly can create wellbeing for himself and the people around him. A multitude of people meditating together in whole world contribute to promote non-violence and peace in the world.
