Soprano Lauren Armishaw grew up in Wellington where she studied singing with Emily Mair at Victoria University and completed a Science Degree in Mathematics. Moving to The Netherlands in 2002, she studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, graduating in 2007 with a Master’s Degree in Early Music.

Lauren Armishaw is regularly engaged throughout Europe as a soloist for both baroque and classical repertoire. She is often heard in performances of Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St Matthew Passion, Monteverdi’s Vespers or Masses of Mozart and Haydn, but she also enjoys exploring the vast repertoire of lesser known composers. With The Netherlands Bach Society, L’Arpeggiata and the Belgian orchestra Les Muffatti she has performed at prestigious Early Music Festivals in Belgium, France, Spain, Italy and Tanglewood (USA). She also performs with her own trio, Lacrime Amorose (soprano/baroque harp/lute).

Aside from concert and oratorio work, Lauren specialises in 17th and 18th century opera. Recent roles include Susanna in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Laodice in Handel’s Siroe, Venere in Cavalli's Ercole Amante and Teopiste in Lanciani's Il Martirio di S. Eustachio (a work she discovered and revived which had not been performed since it was written in 1690).

Whilst on regular trips home to New Zealand, Lauren has given concerts together with harpsichordists Donald Nicolson and James Tibbles, Baroque Voices (dir. Pepe Becker) and The Auckland Choral Society. This is her first engagement with AK Barok.
