This concert features the best known baroque piece of all time - Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" with soloist Lara Hall. Lara's vibrant and imaginative playing is well-known to New Zealand audiences and this is a rare opportunity to hear her perform on the baroque violin. The programme also includes works for string orchestra by Vivaldi and a cello concerto by the Italian baroque composer Zani with soloist Emma Goodbehere. Lara Hall is Lecturer in Violin and Viola at the University of Waikato, Artistic Director of Accelerando, the University of Waikato Junior Music Academy and a member of the New Zealand Chamber Soloists. She has been prominent in the New Zealand music scene from a young age, performing as a soloist with numerous orchestras including the Auckland Philharmonia, and appearing at festivals such as the Adam New Zealand Festival of Chamber Music and the Kerikeri Arts Festival.

Study included a summer in the Dorothy Delay Studio in the Aspen Summer School and a Doctorate at the University of Michigan with Paul Kantor and Yehonatan Berick. She returns periodically to the USA to perform on both modern and baroque violin where her collaborations have included performances with the New York-based early music group ‘Flying Forms’ and harpsichordist Edward Parmentier. As a member of the New Zealand Chamber Soloists, Lara has performed in the UK, US, Europe, South America and Asia. She has given master classes at institutions including the Royal Academy of Music in Dublin and Interlochen Arts Academy in the US.

Emma Goodbehere studied both baroque and modern cello at Victoria University where she gained a BMus Hons in 2005. She then continued to study baroque cello in The Hague where she studied with Jaap ter Linden at the Royal Conservatory. Back in New Zealand, Emma has a large Suzuki cello studio and performs on both baroque and modern cello.
