After the huge success of the inaugural Akaroa Harvest Festival another one is planned for this year.

The festival celebrates some of the best food and wine in the country - all produced on Banks Peninsula.

This year a scarecrow competition followed by their auction will be one of the features of the day. The organisers urge all local business’s and schools to get involved and build their own scarecrow – the scarecrows will be displayed and later in the day auctioned at the Festival. All proceeds will go to the Akaroa Integrated Family Health Centre.

Josie Martin well known local artist will judge the scarecrows on April 18. The winners will be announced before the auction. Ca Bouge has very generously agreed to sponsor this competition and the prizes are: $200 for the juniors (14 & under) and a $300 Ca Bouge voucher for the adults (15 and over). The Scarecrows will be auctioned off and all proceeds will go towards the Akaroa Hospital.

A food photography competition judged by local photographer, Kerry Walker and Lou Bentley will be judging the Best Jam. The Akaroa Cooking School will hold an 'Autumn Harvest' class on Sunday the 21st April using produce purchased at the Harvest Festival.

We invite all artisans, photographers and cooks to get involved in this year’s festival.
