For 25 years the Aotea Youth Orchestra has provided fun and musical training for many young Aucklanders.
Some of there young people went on to be teachers and professional musicians, or continued their music as a hobby. Others stopped playing their instruments but all look back on very enjoyable concerts and overseas trips.

The time has come to gather again the players and the parents from the past 25 years of this exceptional community orchestra, still under its original conductor/director Paul Harrop ONZM.

Over the years many wonderfully supportive parents have served on the committee alongside a small group whose inspiration set up and steered the Aotea Youth Symphony to the musical identity it is today.

Past players, past parents, past committee members, and Friends of the Aotea, are all invited to join together on Saturday 28th April at the Mt Albert War Memorial Hall for the 25th Anniversary Celebration.

Commencing with registration at 10 am followed by activities and lunch, afternoon rehearsal and finishing with an evening concert. All past players are invited to join the current orchestra and play their instrument for the afternoon rehearsal and evening concert, or alternatively join the audience.

Musical director Paul Harrop ONZM assures us everyone who ever played in the orchestra will know most of the music from their own days!

Surprise groups and soloists are part of the evening's concert.
