Charlie Murphy’s rapid ascent from “Eddie Murphy's brother/bodyguard” and Chappelle's Show cast member to top-billed international comedian, playing to sold-out audiences around the world has been remarkable.

He has spent the past eight years performing his critically acclaimed stand-up and solidifying his position in Hollywood as a true acting talent, in his own right.

With a career spanning two decades, Murphy has also been making waves on the big screen, working with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Charlie has worked with top Hollywood talent including Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Eddie Murphy, Danny Aiello, Terrance Howard, Gabrielle Union, Queen Latifah, Vanessa Williams, Rip Torn, Peter Falk, Redd Fox, Angela Bassett, Wesley Snipes, Jamie Foxx, Samuel Jackson and Sammy Davis, Jr.

His feature films have included A Perfect Holiday, Frankenhood, Kings Ransom and Roll Bounce. He also appeared in Chris Rock’s hip-hop parody classic CB4, Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever and Mo’ Betta Blues. Murphy was also seen alongside his brother Eddie Murphy in Harlem Nights.

Murphy collaborated with his brother to co-write the critically acclaimed Norbit, which opened at number one at the box office and Vampire in Brooklyn. Additional writing credits include a remake of The Incredible Shrinking Man and Paper Soldiers for Jay-Z’s Rockafella Films. He’s also written for animated shows including Tales of the Dogg – a pilot for Snoop Dogg and MTV. Recent projects include films such as Bar Starz, and Unearthed.

Murphy recently wrote, produced and starred in a series of sketch comedy webisodes for Sony Entertainment and Crackle.com. Charlie Murphy’s Crash Comedy is a series which showcases Murphy’s comedic range through sketches, parodies and infomercials. His web presence is additionally bolstered by a multi media advertising campaign for Nike’s Jordan brand, featuring Charlie as a long time Jordan nemesis/inspiration Leroy Smith and the up and coming The World According to Charlie.

Charlie will make his New Zealand debut in Auckland – this show should not be missed!
