The ConfiDance classes and GuiDance hip hop crews are a way for young people to celebrate their identity while learning to dance and to perform. The groups also foster friendships, give a sense of belonging and develop confidence in its members.

The ConfiDance dance class are runs weekly where the group of 9-11 year olds learn hip hop routines, building up towards showcasing their talents in various performances. Katie Dowthwaite, who has trained in hip hop and jazz for almost 14 years, as well as having experience in voluntary and paid youth work, tutors the two groups.

GuiDance is an all girls, faith based crew where the focus is on learning to choreograph, being in touch with our faith, expressing individual and group identities and of course having a bit of fun!

If you would like to know more about our dance classes please email Katie Dowthwaite at katie@bgi.org.nz.

“My son loves coming to class, having fun and learning the moves. My son has invited several friends and they’ve all become hooked. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the boys to learn to have fun dancing and performing.” (Beth, Mother)
