In 2006 chef Bevan Smith and his wife, Monique, brought their dreams to life by opening Riverstone Kitchen on the outskirts of Oamaru.

Since then the restaurant has gone from strength to strength, culminating with the restaurant being named Supreme Winner in the Cuisine New Zealand Restaurant of the Year Awards in 2010, the first time a casual-style restaurant had won the award and the first time a South Island restaurant had taken out the top spot.

Spend a fun evening with award-winning chef Bevan Smith as he demonstrates dishes from his new book Riverstone Kitchen: Simple and shares tales from the kitchen.

This event is an Altrusa fundraising project with all profits returned to the community.

The success of Riverstone Kitchen is cultivated by Bevan and Monique’s adherence to their simple philosophy: to make good food using ethically produced and locally grown ingredients.

This philosophy has earned Riverstone Kitchen a reputation for simple, elegant and, most importantly, tasty food, cooked with seasonal ingredients.

This simplicity is the concept behind their new cookbook, Riverstone Kitchen: Simple. Mouth-watering recipes that are easy to prepare are accompanied by inspiring images of both the food and garden.

Tickets available from Chapters & Verses and Fashion Focus.
