Darina Cincurova was raised in the Czech Republic and since her childhood has always dreamed of swimming in the sea. In her adulthood, her dreams came true when she moved to Cyprus. Inspired by the Mediterranean Sea she created her first marine life painting. Darina now lives in Bay of Islands, one of the best diving spots in New Zealand and maybe in the world. Every day surrounded by jumping dolphins, curious seals, majestic whales and other fascinating creatures - her connection to the ocean is only deepened. Darina feels immense reverence, respect and is charmed by the grace of this wild world hidden beneath the sea surface.

Her intention is to point to the true beauty and richness of the ocean through her paintings. She hopes it will lead people to respect and converse about marine life.

Her paintings, at first glance, catch your attention with their bold colours and she is primarily focusing on oil paintings on canvas, which has won her over due to its variability and virtually unlimited possibilities, and which seems to encourage you to play with lines, shades and the structure of the painting. You can sample a few snippets of her Ocean Stories from our website
