Join us at AUT University for a free presentation as our speakers discuss a critical area of mental health: Depression.

On October 10th we celebrate World Mental Health Day. Adopted internationally 20 years ago as a means of promoting mental health; this year the focus is on depression. Globally, depression affects around 350 million people. The World Health Organisation estimate depression will be the second highest cause of ill health and premature death globally by 2020. In New Zealand alone one in six will experience serious depression, with one in seven young people experiencing depression before age 24. Join us in our celebrations; sharing insights and helping highlight an increasingly important health issue for New Zealanders.

Speakers include:
Professor Max Abbott (Pro Vice Chancellor, Dean for Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences, AUT University);
Sir John Kirwan (Auckland Blues Coach and Mental Health Ambassador);
Dr John Crawshaw (Director of Mental Health, Ministry of Health);
Helen Wood (General Manager, Mental Health & Addiction Services, Waitemata DHB & Auckland DHB).

Places are limited so please RSVP by Friday 5th October to:
Susannah Fougère-Hardie
